Ashcake, Virginia, is located at Mile Post 97 on the CSX railroad tracks, where the tracks cross New Ashcake Road, in Hanover County (37° 41' 30"N, 77° 24 '10"W).
From the late-1800’s through the late-1920’s, Ashcake was a stop along the old C&O Piedmont rail line. But by the early 1940’s, the station house was removed and
Ashcake’s life as a rail stop had faded into history.
Today the tracks are still used for rail freight. The majority of trains going through the crossing pass during night hours.
